Ibukiyama Driveway is a road running through the Mt. Ibuki, a famous peak that is also a crossroads of Eastern and Western culture.

Mt. Ibuki is counted as one of the 100 famous mountains in Japan, and a wide variety of plants grow naturally throughout the mountain,
there are endemic species that can only be seen on Mt. Ibuki.
Because it was discovered in Mt. Ibuki, there are many plant names with the word “Ibuki” on their heads.
In addition, Mt. Ibuki is said to be a paradise for flora and fauna, as many creatures inhabit, including the precious golden eagle.
The view from the summit is also good, with Lake Biwa to the west and the Nobi plains to the east.
Mt. Ibuki is visited by many climbers every year, but if you use the Mt. Ibuki Driveway, you can drive to under the top of Mt. Ibuki, so anyone can easily enjoy climbing and nature.
At the end of the ”Ibukiyama Driveway” at an altitude of 1260m, there is a parking lot “Mountain Top Parking Lot” that can accommodate 600 cars, and a shop with a panoramic view of Lake Biwa, “Sky Terrace Ibukiyama”.

There are three climbing routes from “Mountain Top Parking Lot” to the summit. You can reach the summit in about 20 minutes on the shortest route, and you can easily enjoy light mountain climbing and trekking.
Mt.Ibuki is an altitude of 1,377m, and is the highest mountain in Shiga Prefecture.Since there are no mountains higher than Mt. Ibuki, you can experience the outstanding view with nothing to block your view.
To the east you can see the Nobi Plain and the famous peaks of the Japan Alps towering in the distance, to the west you can see Lake Biwa, the largest lake in Japan, to the south you can see the Suzuka Mountains and Ise Bay, and to the north you can see Mt. and Tsuruga Bay.

Mt. Ibuki is located almost in the center of Japan, and a unique vegetation environment has been created by the special environment where the climates of the Japan Sea and the Pacific Ocean collide.
Mt. Ibuki has long been known as a treasure trove of herbaceous plants and medicinal herbs, and is regarded as a very important mountain in the history of botanical research that has been investigated by many botanists.

Ibukiyama Driveway is open all night on Fridays, Saturdays, the day before holidays, and during the Obon holidays in July and August. During that period, you can also enjoy staying in the car at “Mountain Top Parking Lot”.
