Driveway in the Sky
Ise-Shima Skyline, a “driveway in the sky” that connects Ise and Toba, is located in “Ise-Shima National Park“. A grand, panoramic view of the vast Ise Plain, the sea famous for pearls, and the Ise-Shima area spreads out below you. Please enjoy a slow drive on Mt. Asamayama while being surrounded by a lot of excitement. “Ise-Shima National Park” covers central Mie Prefecture, including most of the Shima Peninsula. At the observation platform on the top of Mt. Asamayama, there the footbath “Tenbo Ashiyu” where you can enjoy the vista slowly and comfortably. Also there is “Tenku no Post (the retro postbox called Japan Type 1 Cylindrical Postbox)” designated as the holy place for lovers. Besides, Kongo Shoji temple is located near the driveway. It is a famous temple said to protect demon’s gate(the northeastern direction) of Ise JIngu shrine. Traditionally, pilgrims always paid visits to this temple on their way to Ise Jingu shrine. Because, it is sung in the folk song of Ise Ondo, “If you visit Ise, should stop at Asama. If you don’t stop at Asama and visit Ise, that is not enough”.
