Wellness Road Shiraito Highlandway is a 10-kilometer road running throughthe beautiful forest overlooking Mt. Asama, one of Japan’s 100 most famous mountains. After passing through the Mikasa St. from Kyu-Karuizawa, that is a mystical forest. Drive through the natural tunnel, and you will arrive at “Shiraito no Taki” watefall. The Shiraito Highlandway is a wellness road on which you can experience the mists of negative ions. In addition to the “Shiraito no Taki” waterfall, there are popular sightseeing spots, “Ryugaeshi no Taki” waterfall, as well as “Shinanoji Nature Trail,” where trekking can be enjoyed readily. You can fully enjoy a fresh breeze blowing in the highlands.
“The Joshin’etsukogen National Park” is an enormous park comprising highlands and mountains, including Mt. Tanigawa (1,977 m above sea level), Mt. Naeba (2,145 m above sea level), Mt. The Chubu-Hokuriku Long Distance Nature Trail is a 16km hiking course that runs from Usui Pass, the prefectural border, to Mineno-Chaya via the Shiraito Highlandway. ”The Shinanoji Nature Trail” is about 10km along the Shiraito Highland Way from the side of Mikasa Toll Gate.
As you pass through a tunnel of deep green trees, you will come to Ryugaeshi Falls and Shiraito Falls, which are popular tourist spots with their contrasting dynamic and stillness.
The rain that fell on Mt.Asama spring up as “Shiraito no Taki” waterfall five years later. Throughout the year, the waterfall flows down quietly without changing its water temperature and the volume of water. The waterfall has a subtle beautiful figure like white threads lined up side by side. Please expose yourself to plenty of negative ions during trekking on the “Shinanoji Nature Trail”. It can also be accessed from the parking lot that accommodates 300 cars. At a popular “Shiraito no Taki Kiosk”, you can enjoy carefully selected specialties of Shinshu, such as tofu made from the springwater in “Shiraito no Taki” and freshly salt-grilled river fish Iwana.
It is only at the “Shiraito no Taki” waterfall that you can see projection mapping that projected image on the waterfall. The projection mapping show with the theme of trendy topics (different every year) will be screened during the summer holidays. In winter, the illuminated waterfall welcomes you. An illuminated waterfall fantastic appears in the starry sky and the world of silver. The flickering of faint lights of the bamboo lanterns leads you there. Please enjoy the harmony of the natural beauty of stars, snow, water, and light.
